Kimpton’s kitsch on Route 66

Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants is marking the 90th anniversary of Route 66 during 2016 with a number of events and special packages.

For example, located at the starting point of America’s most acclaimed highway, the newly renovated Hotel Allegro in Chicago has a limited number of special rates for Sunday-night stays, starting from $90 (around £65) and including complimentary sodas for the onward journey. During their stay, guests can enjoy a Route 66 tribute cocktail, Kerouac’s Journey, for $6.60. The cocktail creation is inspired by the flavours of traditional apple pie and dedicated to the American novelist and poet Jack Kerouac, who loved the famous highway.

Hotel Palomar in Beverly Hills, California, which resides at the end of the 2,448-mile federal highway, has a special five-night ‘Get Your Kitsch on Route 66’ package priced from around £1,406.41 a couple.

Included in the package is a four-hour guided tour of Los Angeles in a vintage car and, from April 1 to September 4 2016, guests will be welcomed with a Route 66 ‘Welcome Amenity’, featuring two themed cocktails, catered for with lunchboxes with gourmet fare from Kimpton’s restaurant BLVD 16, and provided with Signature Animal Print robes to take away.

Kimpton has with more than 60 properties across the USA.
