Universal Christmas in Orlando

The annual Christmas festivities currently underway at Universal Orlando Resort will run until January 2.


Guests celebrating in the two theme parks, Universal CityWalk and at its on-site hotels can view the huge balloons seen in Macy’s Holiday Parade, watch the “Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular” live show at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and listen to festive classics performed by Mannheim Steamroller at various dates.

All the festivities are included with the price of park admission.

Visitors can also see in 2016 on New Year’s Eve at Universal’s CityWalk, with unique entertainment, parties and access to six different clubs.


Palm Springs celebrity tours

The Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism has created three celebrity-themed itineraries designed to let visitors follow in the footsteps of famous Hollywood stars.

Created as part of Frank Sinatra’s 100th birthday celebrations, the ‘Follow in Frank’s Footsteps’ tour includes visits to his old haunts such as the Twin Palm Estate, dining at Johnny Costa’s and sitting in ‘Sinatra Corner’ at Melvyn’s.

'Experience Elvis Presley’s Palm Springs' takes visitors to the Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway, Graceland West, and sees them spending a night at The Riviera.

Meanwhile, the 'Live Like Lucille Ball' tour shows visitors Lucille’s old home, sees them tee off at Indian Canyons Golf Resort (where the actress played in a celebrity tournament) and offers stays at The Lucy House.


Grand Canyon west tours

Grand Canyon Scenic Airlines is launching a new Grand Canyon West air tour. The excursion will provide guests views above Eagle Point, Guano Point and other points of interest within the western section of the famous canyon.

The in-flight narration is available in 16 languages and provides facts on the history of the Hualapai tribe and its history.

After returning to the terminal the tour continues on an air-conditioned coach for a self-guided ground tour of Grand Canyon West.

Here guests can see cowboys re-enact gunfights, see rock formations, visit Native American dwellings and enjoy cultural music and dancing.

Prices begin at $140 for adults and $120 for children.


Space Center Houston’s new complex

‘Independence Plaza’, a multi-exhibit complex set to open on January 23, 2016 at Space Center Houston, will feature the historic Boeing 747 shuttle carrier aircraft and shuttle replica Independence.

Visitors to the world’s only shuttle replica, mounted on a shuttle carrier aircraft, will be able to enter both the shuttle and the carrier.

Tour operator, America As You Like It has a four-night trip to Houston, staying at the Crowne Plaza Downtown, priced from £819pp (based on two sharing).

The shuttle replica has been remodelled to offer unprecedented access to preciously restricted areas. The shuttle carrier aircraft is the largest intact artefact from the shuttle programme.
