Delta to link Heathrow and Salt Lake City from May

Delta Airlines will operate a daily direct flight from Heathrow to Salt Lake City from May 2. The new service will make Delta the only carrier to operate a non-stop connection between the UK and America’s ‘Mountain West’.

Operating in conjunction with partner Virgin Atlantic Airways, the route will depart the UK at 14.15 and arrive in Utah at 18.07, while the return flight to Heathrow will depart Salt Lake City at 20.10 and arrive in London at 13.10 the following day.

Passengers travelling in the Delta One cabin to Salt Lake will enjoy full flat-bed seats and a range of personalised dining options. Additionally, all passengers will have access to on-demand in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi connectivity on-board.

Premium offering from American

American Airlines is set to offer customers more on-board choice by introducing Premium Economy on its international wide-body fleet throughout the year.

The airline says Premium Economy will offer a new class of service directly behind Business Class, providing a more enhanced product offering that more obviously distinguishes it from the Main Cabin.

This product will offer a new type of seat with benefits that include: more legroom, wider seats, personal on-demand entertainment, noise reducing headphones, priority check-in and boarding, checked baggage allowance, amenity kits, enhanced meal service, spirits, beer and wine.

American’s first plane with Premium Economy seating will be its Boeing 787-9, which is expected to enter service in late 2016.

American will also add Premium Economy to all Boeing 777-300ERs, 777-200ERs, 787-8s and Airbus A330s over the next three years.

Andrew Nocella, American’s Chief Marketing Officer, said: “Premium Economy is offered today by many premier carriers around the world. We studied those offerings and developed a world-class product with larger seats, more legroom, improved entertainment and upscale headphones and amenity kits, just to name a few features of this new service. As the world’s largest carrier, we are excited to introduce this product for our customers.”
